A Day in the Life
Team is working hybrid and position will be onsite 3 days/week.
The Principal Corporate Development Associate participates in Medtronic Business Development projects including mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances, joint ventures, minority investments, technology licenses and divestitures, for which the Medtronic Business Development group has primary responsibility. The Associate is required to work in close partnership with corporate development leadership, and project teams that generally include personnel from various corporate and/or business unit functional departments including finance, tax, law, human resources, research and development, operations, information technology, quality assurance, and regulatory.
The Associate participates in the Medtronic Business Development activity by performing market analysis, financial analysis, deal structuring and negotiation, and due diligence project coordination. The Associate is responsible for executing project requirements and preparing and presenting proposals and recommendations to management. In addition, the Associate will interact with third parties as a crucial Medtronic representative to evaluate new opportunities, drive project deliverables, and negotiate terms. The Associate generally is required to participate in 4 to 6 active projects at any one time, with fluctuating levels of time commitment.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Assess project requirements and identify necessary personnel and information resources for project team
- Perform market analysis for proposed transactions, and transaction relationship/fit with Medtronic strategic objectives
- Perform company, market, competitor, and industry research and analysis and prepare profiles
- Identify and assess opportunities and risks of proposed transactions, including operational and integration synergies and issues
- Perform detailed financial analysis and develop valuation models for proposed transactions
- Develop and analyze transaction structures in cooperation with legal personnel
- Serve as a point of contact with third parties, lawyers, Medtronic Corporate Development leadership and Medtronic operating unit and functional resources in support of proposed transactions
- Actively participate in negotiation process in cooperation with and with direction from Medtronic Corporate Development leadership
- Present proposed transactions to appropriate decision making management groups
- Manage analysis and due diligence processes including coordination of Medtronic functional and business unit personnel
- Monitor markets, industries and organizations of potential strategic interest
- Develop broad knowledge of medical technology industry and Medtronic businesses to further develop leadership potential
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
- MBA plus 5+ years of experience development of business strategies, tactics and solutions
Nice to Have
- Advanced financial modeling experience
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience working with all levels of management
- In-depth experience creating spreadsheets, presentations and word processing software (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
- Previous work experience in business development, investment banking, strategic planning and/or operating management
- Analytical and valuation experience
- Medical device or healthcare industry experience
- M&A and strong valuation experience
- Strong leadership skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and lead others
- Strong organization and prioritization skills with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously
- Ability to perform under pressure and in a very dynamic environment

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$133,600.00 - $200,400.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
