The University of Colorado, College of Nursing is seeking an energetic leader to serve as the Specialty Director of the Family Nurse Practitioner Program. The ideal candidate would be qualified to hold a full-time (1.00 FTE) faculty appointment at the rank for Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor in the Clinical Teaching Track. Rank will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

The University of Colorado, College of Nursing has an opening for a full-time (1.00 FTE) Clinical Teaching Faculty position with dedicated time to serve as the Specialty Director in Family Nurse Practitioner Program. Ultimately, rank will be determined based on experience and qualifications. The successful candidate will have recent family nurse practitioner practice experience and a track record of excellence in academic teaching. Responsibilities include participation in the teaching, practice, and service mission of the College of Nursing and the University of Colorado. Demonstration of academic leadership such as curricular/program development is preferred. Within the College of Nursing, service and scholarship to the University and the College are an expectation of all faculty members.

This faculty position involves didactic and clinical teaching responsibilities as well as administrative responsibility for the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Program including securing clinical placements for graduate students. Didactic courses are taught in the classroom, online, or in blended formats. Supervision of clinical courses includes clinical conferences using online conferencing and close communication with clinical preceptors.

Duties:

  • Instruct and facilitate meaningful learning of the course outcomes in the curriculum and proactively support all facets of the learning environment.
  • Provide education through learning-centered instruction that will enable graduates to fulfill the evolving needs of the marketplace.
  • Encourage a culture of learning that values mutual responsibility and respect, life-long learning, diversity and ethics as well as personal and professional development.
  • Participate in activities that promote the stature of the academic programs and the College of Nursing as well as abide by the mandates set by the University of Colorado, and the College of Nursing.
  • Helps suggest teaching assignments within the Family Nurse Practitioner Program as well as accepting teaching assignments as determined by Assistant/Associate Dean.
  • Participates in course, curricular and program revisions / development.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) has been established at $95,000 – $120,000 annually at Assistant Professor of Clinical Teaching, $110,000 – $130,000 annually at Associate Professor of Clinical Teaching, $130,000 – $160,000 annually at Professor of Clinical Teaching.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

  • A Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or an earned doctorate in an appropriate field of science, nursing, social science, education, or related field.
  • Minimum of four years’ experience working as a Family Nurse Practitioner
  • Hold current certification for Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).
  • Eligible for licensure as a nurse in the State of Colorado.
  • Eligible to obtain an unencumbered nursing license in Colorado
  • A record of demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, collegial collaboration, and commitment to a program of scholarship to qualify for the rank of Assistant Professor in the Clinical Teaching faculty track
